About
Simulate IT is a VR development action center: a cockpit you step into to work a situation through before it happens for real. Each scenario loads into the same seat, with the controls, the information and the calls that situation brings, so a crew can practice the decision, see what follows from it, and run it again. The first scenario is a pump seal fire on a refinery FCC unit. Raise the alarm on the field phone, stop the pump and close its emergency isolation valve from the station upwind, then open the fire monitor hand over hand and put water on the exposures. The fire follows the leak, not a script: isolate its feed and it dies away; leave it and the heat spreads to the cable tray and the pipe rack. What the trainee does, in what order and how fast, is kept as evidence. Every drill ends in an after-action record, and a subject-matter expert reviews it and certifies, modifies or rejects it. Their decision is added to the record, which is never overwritten. Run it in a VR headset, or on a desktop with mouse and keyboard.
